How much alcohol do you consume on a daily (or weekly) basis?  While this may not seem like a big deal, the truth is alcohol consumption effects your skin in many ways.   The results that alcohol can show with your skin can be: dullness, enlarged pores, discoloration, sagging, and fine lines. Who wants that?!?

On A Much Larger Scale

On a larger scale, there can be other side effects from alcohol consumption, such as:

  • Severe dehydration
  • Inflammation of the tissues
  • Deplete essential vitamins
  • Wears on connective tissue
  • Adrenal fatigue

As an esthetician, we can really tell who’s been ‘boozing it’ up based on the way their skin looks.  On the flip side of things, an occasional glass of red wine with a meal can serve to be beneficial for your health.  Red wines contain antioxidants (reservatrol) that can increase your good cholesterol! I have also heard that a glass of Whisky once a week is okay as well…f you know me well you know Maker’s on the rocks is my choice!  But let’s not get carried away…. all in good moderation of course.
