We have all heard of rosacea before, but what do we really know about it? Well, as it turns out, not much (and when I say “we” I mean scientists and doctors). This chronic skin condition is characterized by redness, visible blood vessels, and small pimples in the center of the face on the cheeks, nose, and chin.  Rosacea typically causes a bumpy texture and small pus-filled pimples to occur.

There are many types of Rosacea….acne-like breakouts is one of them.  These breakouts can come and go, leaving the skin very sensitive. At times, the skin may burn or sting and leave raised patches of skin (called plaques).  The skin can become very red where acne breakouts occur and also very oily.

While the cause of rosacea is unknown, it can be due to any of the following:  genetics, circulation, digestive disorders, lymphatic system, bacteria attached to cells.  This coupled with environmental factors, can lead to Acne Rosacea triggers. There is no ‘one size fits all’ for treatment of this condition.

Acne and Rosacea: Watch Out for Triggers

Several factors can aggravate (or even trigger) Acne Rosacea.  Some of the following may increase blood flow to the surface of the skin:

  • Alcohol
  • Sunlight or wind
  • Cosmetics
  • Extreme temperatures
  • Spicy Foods
  • Caffeine
  • Cigarettes

Our CytoClear+ Serum contains L-Mandelic acid.  This is a natural AHA that is unique among alpha hydroxy acids. It’s derived from almonds which means it has a larger molecular structure, so it doesn’t penetrate as deeply as some other AHA’s, making it less irritating.  It also has Azelaic Acid and Lactic Acid…which are both great for Acne Rosacea.

It also has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, making it a great choice to address acne. Mandelic acid also includes a melanin inhibitor that helps reduce redness and scarring and softens the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Because it’s relatively gentle, it’s even safe for those that have rosacea.

A unique, lightweight, water-based moisturizer specially formulated for people with acne that will leave your skin feeling hydrated and not greasy. Aloe vera and ceramides help reduce dryness and flakiness.  It also contains niacinamide (also known as B3). B3 is a water-soluble nutrient that when applied directly to the skin, can prevent environmental wear and tear, while simultaneously reducing the visible signs of existing damage.

We love NourishRX….it’s one of our ‘go-to’s’!

Our UVSilk40™is one of our best selling products!  Our tinted SPF is a mineral sunscreen that works for almost all skin tones (except those with super fair skin).  Not only does it protect against damaging UV rays that cause premature aging and the appearance of wrinkles, but you can also use this as a makeup primer!  Leaving your with a silky matte finish. It’s also a chemical-free sunscreen, as well as no preservatives, oils, fragrances and PABA’s.

Lastly, it contains Zinc.  This is a key ingredient in reducing inflammation and is very helpful for anyone dealing with rosacea. Studies have also shown it works as an anti-bacterial and anti-microbial as well, event reducing the bacteria that influence acne.
