What to do with all that summer sweat
With summer approaching we can expect Austin to be hot and sweltering. I mean you break a sweat just walking to the car! While sweating doesn’t feel glamorous, it’s great for naturally detoxing your body, opening your pores, and excreting the build up of dirt and bacteria. On the flip side, sweat can cause unpleasant irritation if left on the skin too long. The salt and dirt sitting on your skin from sweat can cause breakouts if not whisked away. Another food for thought is sweat is salty, meaning it is high in iodide. When iodide (salt) is consumed and then sweated out through the pores, it can irritate the pore causing acne flare ups, for both acne-prone and normally clear skin. Fun/scary fact – scientists use iodide to create acne for skin research studies!
Here are a few tips for what to do with all that sweat:

2. Splash your face with water. After a hike, a day at the lake, a workout, or even if it’s just walking your dog around the block, rinse your face with water, then dab your face dry with a clean towel.
3. Be committed. Consistently cleanse your face every night before bed. Wash away all the sweat, dirt, and grime from the day.
4. Watch your salt intake. Be aware of foods you eat that are high in salt, such as seafood, eggs, processed foods, dairy, and baked goods.
